This three-week workshop with guest coach, Ben Johnson, is a lesson in risking it all!  Exercise your boldness muscles, make big choices and big mistakes, and use them to enliven your improv.  Through risk-taking and pushing our own boundaries of comfortable habit, we end up in places more delightful than we ever imagined, inspiring our partners in new ways and telling stories that are brand new and sparkling.  Avoid being a "safe" improviser and start surprising even yourself!

Guest Coach Bio:  BEN JOHNSON

Ben Johnson has been working as a professional actor, improviser, clown, and teacher since 1997.

Most recently, Ben was a featured performer on Cirque du Soleil’s touring show Alegría in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates. In 2007 he played the title role in the Gamm Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, in Pawtucket, RI.

He has performed regularly with Providence, RI’s Manton Avenue Project (modeled on New York City’s 52nd Street Project), collaborating with young playwrights to bring their work to the stage. In addition to performing with a variety of other circuses and theatre companies, from 2004 to 2007 Ben worked with the Clown Care Unit of the Big Apple Circus in three of New England’s premier pediatric hospitals. Through his work with Cirque du Jour, a Connecticut-based entertainment company, Ben has also taught clowning and circus skills at pediatric oncology camps throughout the United States.
